[SN ILZ250A] YAMAHA / FG Red Label FGX5 GLOSS (FGX5G) Vintage Natural [03]
This new model features a gloss finish (body), enhancing its premium feel!
Combining the aesthetics of the 1960s with skilled craftsmanship honed over more than 50 years
Yamahaâs original jumbo body shape delivers rich volume and natural mid-to-low-frequency resonance. The sound is ideal for chord strumming and flatpicking.
Through continuous refinements utilizing proprietary scalloped bracing and the latest acoustic analysis simulation technology, it achieves an ideal warm tone and rich low-end response
The fingerboard, bridge, and bridge pins are made of ebony
The Yamaha FGâs original headstock shape features a logo modeled after a tuning fork. The truss rod cover is engraved with âSince 1966,â signifying the origins of Yamaha guitars.
The body top is crafted from solid Sitka spruce treated with A.R.E., delivering a rich tone that sounds as if the guitar has been played for years, even though it is brand new. Its well-balanced sound is ideal for chord strumming or rhythmic fingerstyle playing.
Solid mahogany is used for the sides and back, delivering the warm, rich midrange characteristic of mahogany.
The nut and saddle are made of cow bone (Grade #5 only). Cow bone is extremely hard, enabling more effective sound transmission from the strings to the neck and body. Installing and adjusting a cow bone nut requires a high level of technical skill, so each guitar is carefully crafted one by one in Japan by skilled guitar craftsmen.
In pursuit of an ideal, warm tone, we have made repeated refinements by combining virtual prototypingâutilizing the latest acoustic analysis and simulation technologiesâwith physical prototypes crafted from wood. Compared to the scalloped bracing used in the FG/FS#800 series, we have optimized the bracing to match the characteristics of the wood itself and the specific body shapes of the FG and FS models, thereby further enhancing the low-frequency response.
The top is treated with Yamahaâs proprietary Acoustic Resonance Enhancement (A.R.E.) process. By precisely controlling temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, this process replicates the natural aging changes that occur in wood over a long period after milling within a short timeframe. This enhances sound transmission and vibration efficiency, promoting the extension of mid-to-low frequencies while increasing the attack of high frequencies and accelerating their decay. The A.R.E. treatment produces a well-balanced, mature, and warm sound with minimal harsh overtones, creating a tone reminiscent of a guitar that has been played for many years.
The newly developed Atmosfeel 3-way pickup system features three distinct pickups that reliably capture each frequency range: an under-saddle piezo sensor for the mid-to-low range, a microphone built into the preamp for the low range, and a proprietary, ultra-thin contact sensor for the high range.
The âAtmosfeelâ controller allows you to blend the signals from each pickup with extremely simple controls, making tone shaping a breeze. Use the master volume knob to fine-tune subtle tonal nuances, and the mic blend knob to add body resonance. The Bass EQ controller lets you adjust the peak EQ settings.
