Since its introduction in 1978, ProCoâs RAT distortion pedal has undergone numerous specification changes and continues to enjoy a massive following today. A major change occurred in 1983: until then, it featured a larger enclosure known as the âLarge Boxâ model, but starting in 1984, it switched to the âSmall Boxâ designâthe enclosure recognized as the current RAT.
This unit features the 1987 specification from the late Black Face era, with a "No Brackets" exteriorâcharacterized by the absence of border lines around the control labelsâand a "flat-top" enclosure with a flat top surface.
It uses a Motorola LM308N op-amp. The pot date is only identifiable on the volume control, and the "R1378736" pot sticker is clearly present, confirming that it was manufactured in 1987.
