Equipped with a single single-coil pickup in the rear position, it features 1 Volume and 1 Tone control, as well as the 3-way selectorāthe Esquireās most distinctive featureāwhich allows for three distinct sound profiles.
This instrument is a 1953 Esqire custom-built in 2020 by master builder Paul Waller.
The body is made of two-piece ash, and the neck is crafted from maple.
The neck is quarter-sawn, and the headstock features "Fender ESQUIRE" and "Paul Waller" decals, along with vintage-style Fender logo tuners and a round string guide.
It uses āVINTAGE UPGRADE / 45085ā frets and features a thick, substantial ā52 STYLE āUāā neck profile and a 7.25ā fingerboard radius, true to the 1950s style.
It is equipped with hand-wound āH/W BROADCASTERā pickups, and like a vintage Esquire, the sound can be switched using a 3-way selector.
Position 1: Rear tone bypass
Position 2: Rear tone
Position 3: Rear Preset High Cut
The tone control is disabled in Positions 1 and 3.
The serial number is engraved on the bridge, the saddles are 3-way brass, and the control knobs are slightly rounded barrel-style.
The finish is natural, and the pickguard is black.
Heavy relicing is applied to recreate the scratches and dents caused by intense gigs and touring.
Additionally, since the Esquire debuted in the mid-1950s and a two-pickup version appeared shortly thereafter, leading to the model name being changed to "BROADCASTER," this guitar includes a front pickup labeled "H/W BROADCASTER," a VOL/TONE SWITCH control circuit, and a black pickguard designed for the two-pickup configuration to faithfully recreate this historical context.
If you would like the 2-pickup configuration, please let us know when placing your order.
