[SN 132530335] USED GIBSON / Limited Edition Midtown Custom Kalamazoo [04]
When it was first released, there were three models: Standard, Custom, and Deluxe.
The model weāve just received is the Midtown āCustom.ā
The body features a hollow-body construction with a maple top and mahogany back, just like a Les Paul.
The top is flat, with no curve.
The body is finished with multi-color binding around the perimeter.
The neck is made of mahogany.
The fingerboard is rosewood with block inlays
At that time, it was difficult to source ebony, so Richlite (synthetic resin) was often used instead; however, this model features a rosewood fingerboard.
The headstock features torch inlays, typically found on top-of-the-line models, that truly shine.
This alone lends a sense of luxury, but with the addition of multi-binding, itās a model packed with features.
Since this is a Custom model, all hardware is gold-plated.
Another highlight is the vintage-style zigzag tailpiece. Please note that these tailpieces are currently difficult to source; should yours break, it is highly likely that a replacement would be a different model, so we ask for your understanding in advance.
Itās equipped with two classic 57 Classic pickups.
With a wide dynamic range, its vintage-style sound remains as strong as ever.
Although itās in good condition for its age, there are some scratches, dents, and slight discoloration on various parts throughout the guitar.
The neck remains straight, and the truss rod is adjustable.
Among the ones Iāve seen so far, I believe this is a specimen in quite good condition.
Since this model is quite rare these days, if youāre looking for one, please consider purchasing it as soon as possible.
