[SN 751686] USED GIBSON CUSTOM / YCS Historic Collection 1957 Les Paul Standard Reissue "Lucy" Style -2005- [04]
As you can see, this is a rare instrument modeled after “Lucy,” the guitar that Eric Clapton gave to George Harrison.
Originally, a 1957 Goldtop owned by John Sebastian of Lovin’ Spoonful passed into the hands of Rick Derringer; because it already had a well-worn appearance at that point, he commissioned Gibson’s factory to refinish it.
It was refinished in the cherry finish typical of SG models produced at the time, but Rick Derringer later sold it to Dan Armstrong Guitars.
Eric Clapton purchased that guitar and gave it to George Harrison, which led to the story behind “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.”
Like the original, this guitar features an offset maple top, a cherry finish, Grover tuners, and a truss rod cover engraved with “CUSTOM.”
It is equipped with Burstbucker Type 1 (neck) and Type 2 (bridge) pickups.
The neck is slightly thicker than that of the current R7 model.
The fingerboard is made of Madagascar rosewood.
There are scattered fine scratches on the headstock, and the body also has fine scratches, scuffs, and buckle marks.
Additionally, the cherry finish on the mahogany sections, achieved with aniline dye, has faded.
Approximately 80% of the frets remain.
The neck is in good condition, the truss rod has plenty of adjustment range, and the instrument is in excellent playing condition.
It comes with the original black hard case.
It comes with tags, a wrench, and switch knobs (white).
Unfortunately, the certificate of authenticity is missing.
