[SN 11506002] USED Gibson / 2016 Roy Smeck Radio Grunde Reissue [05]

[SN 11506002] USED Gibson / 2016 Roy Smeck Radio Grunde Reissue [05]

A limited-edition reissue of the legendary ā€œGibson Roy Smeck Radio Grande,ā€ originally crafted during Gibson’s golden age in the 1930s.

The original Radio Grande, produced for only a brief period in the 1930s, is now extremely difficult to find on the vintage market due to the rich, deep sound characteristic of its rosewood body and its rarity.

Like the original, it features a jumbo-sized body and a 12th-fret joint, with a neck design adapted for modern specifications that allows for standard fretboard playing.
However, since this model was originally designed for Hawaiian-style (lap steel) playing, its design philosophy differs from that of standard fretted guitars, and its playability and intonation when fretting set it apart from modern acoustic guitars.
The pitch is unstable from the middle frets to the high frets, but please enjoy this as a unique characteristic of this model.

The greatest appeal of this model is, without a doubt, its sound.
The sound produced by the combination of a spruce top and rosewood back and sides goes beyond simply being ā€œrich in bassā€; it emits deep, resonant lows, lustrous, sustained highs, and rich overtones that fill the space.

Compared to the Stage Deluxe (mahogany), which was also released as a Roy Smeck model, this guitar offers longer sustain and a sound with greater breadth and complexity. From fingerstyle to singer-songwriter accompaniment, it makes an overwhelming impression with its wide dynamic range and expressive power.

This is a highly refined instrument that recreates a vintage-style sound with practical playability.
This is a model we highly recommend to players seeking the airy quality of pre-war Gibson guitars and the deep, resonant tone unique to rosewood.

* As mentioned above, since this guitar was originally designed for lap steel use, the pitch becomes unstable from the middle frets onward due to the balance between the scale length and fret spacing. Please note that this is an unavoidable aspect of the design and does not constitute a defect. We also ask for your understanding that returns or refunds cannot be accepted for these reasons.
