[SN V148469] USED FENDER USA / American Vintage '62 Jazz Bass Black Thin Lacquer [05]
Needless to say, "Fender" is the original electric bass.
This new arrival is from the American Vintage seriesâa long-running bestseller that has continued to receive high praise since its release in 1982. After updates to the New American Vintage and American Original series, it has now established itself as the top-tier USA-made line under the name American Vintage II.
Based on the neck and body dates, this instrument appears to be from 2004. Although there is no explicit marking, considering the era and color scheme, it is likely a Thin Lacquer model from the Yamano Gakki distribution era.
It features an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboardâthe classic materials for vintage reissues. As mentioned earlier, the finish is likely a Thin Lacquer (specifically, an extra-thin lacquer finish). An American Vintage with a black body and tortoiseshell pickguard is quite rare. While this is a classic combination, it looks incredibly cool!
The sound has a wide-ranging resonance, likely due to the thin finish. The low-mid range has a particularly wonderful depth, delivering a balanced yet powerful punch. Of course, the characteristic Fender âbuzzâ is still very much present, and it will surely exceed expectations for wild sound creation.
There are scattered scratches and dents across the entire body, multiple sticker marks on the back, paint damage on the body end (likely caused by a stand), and some discoloration on the hardware. Additionally, there is paint chipping on the underside of the pickguard, and a piece of pickguard filmâpresumably from the original eraâremains beneath the finger rest. Furthermore, a crack and paint chipping at the joint that significantly marred the appearance were identified, so we had them repaired by a professional.
The neck is currently in good condition. The truss rod functions normally. While the frets show some wear, the guitar should play well for the foreseeable future.
A practical and rare instrument! Please donât miss outâact fast!
