[SN R95825] USED Fender Custom Shop / Michael Landau 1963 Stratocaster Fiesta Red Over 3-Color Sunburst [05]
A truly special instrument from Fender Custom Shopâs prestigious Artist Collection, this 1963-style Stratocaster embodies Michael Landauâs musical roots and practical demands. More than just a vintage reproduction, it reflects Michael Landauâs own sensibilities and experience from years of performing on the front lines, down to the finest details.
The body is crafted from lightweight alder. It delivers a midrange that is neither too tight nor too loose, yet clearly defined, achieving a tone balance that is easy to handle in both studio and live settings.
It is equipped with Hand-Wound Strat Fat â50s pickups. The 5-way selector switch covers a wide range, from thick, sweet vintage tones to crisp lead sounds. The three-dimensional depth and sustain in the clean to crunch range are particularly appealing features unique to this model.
The neck features a '63 Strat Custom "C" Shape (Michael Landau spec). It maintains a vintage feel while offering the perfect thickness and grip to handle modern playing styles.
The fingerboard combines round-laminated rosewood with a 7.25-inch radius and 6105 frets, achieving a high level of balance between vintage feel and practicality. It offers excellent responsiveness during bending, naturally bringing out expressive playing.
The finish is lacquer. It features a natural relic treatment reminiscent of a well-worn 1963 Stratocaster, contributing not only to its appearance but also to its excellent tone due to the thinness of the lacquer layer. The color is Fiesta Red over 3-Color Sunburst. The unique look, where the underlying sunburst subtly shines through, is a deep, rich finish unique to the Custom Shop.
All hardware is unified in a vintage-style design while prioritizing stability during performance.
The combination of a wing-style string tree, vintage-style tremolo, bone nut, and 5-way switch ensures stable tuning and excellent responsiveness. While designed with professional performance in mind, it feels completely natural to play.
This is âa guitar that embodies the ideal vintage Strat, perfected for use in todayâs playing environment.â It is not merely a signature model, but a practical Stratocaster that will serve you for a lifetime.
Since it was originally built with a relic finish, it is difficult to distinguish between original and later scratches, so I cannot say for certain, but it appears to maintain an appearance largely unchanged from when it was new. Furthermore, there are no issues with its playing condition.
