Original 1980s Superstar Snare Drum
This is a 14x8-inch deep-shell Artwood snare drum, believed to be a model from around the mid-1980s.
It features a 6-ply birch shell and a full-head snare—a specification that was popular at the time—and is made in Japan.
The die-cast hoops effectively support the springy mid-to-low frequencies characteristic of a deep-shell birch snare, and combined with the all-over snare wire, it produces a fat, well-defined sound.
