[SN IMJ305A] YAMAHA / FG5 GLOSS (FG5G) Vintage Natural [10]

[SN IMJ305A] YAMAHA / FG5 GLOSS (FG5G) Vintage Natural [10]

The gloss finish body enhances the premium feel

The original headstock shape of the Yamaha FG features a logo modeled after a tuning fork. The truss rod cover is engraved with "Since 1966," signifying the origins of Yamaha guitars.

The body top is crafted from solid Sitka spruce treated with A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement). This delivers a rich tone that sounds as if the guitar has been played for years, even though it is brand new. The well-balanced sound is ideal for chord strumming or rhythmic fingerstyle playing.

Solid mahogany is used for the sides and back, delivering the warm, rich midrange characteristic of mahogany.

The nut and saddle are made of cowbone (Grade #5 only). Cowbone is extremely hard, enabling more effective sound transmission from the strings to the neck and body. Installing and adjusting a cowbone nut requires a high level of technical skill, and each guitar is carefully crafted one by one in Japan by skilled guitar craftsmen.

In pursuit of an ideal, warm tone, we have made repeated improvements by combining virtual prototyping using the latest acoustic analysis simulation technology with physical prototypes crafted from wood. Compared to the scalloped bracing used in the FG/FS #800 series, we have optimized the design to match the characteristics of the wood itself and the specific models of the FG and FS series, achieving further expansion of the low-frequency range.

The top is treated with Yamaha’s proprietary Acoustic Resonance Enhancement (A.R.E.) process. By precisely controlling temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, this process replicates the natural aging changes that occur in wood over a long period after milling within a short timeframe. This enhances sound transmission and vibration efficiency, promoting the extension of mid-to-low frequencies while increasing the attack of high frequencies and accelerating their decay. The A.R.E. treatment produces a well-balanced, mature, warm sound with minimal harsh overtones, creating a tone reminiscent of a guitar that has been played for years.
