[SN CZ551986] USED Fender Custom Shop / 1963 Stratocaster Journeyman Relic Closet Classic Hardware Aged Olympic White [10]
We’ve received a 2021 Fender Custom Shop 1963 Stratocaster.
The body top color is Aged Olympic White with a Journeyman Relic finish.
Additionally, the hardware features a Closet Classic finish, which means it doesn’t have extreme weathering damage—instead, it has just the right amount of subtle patina, such as a hazy sheen and light scratches—making it easy to fine-tune each part as needed.
The grip area on the back of the neck features a Heavy Relic finish, but rest assured that the undercoat and intermediate coats have penetrated all the way to the wood, and this specification allows for a smooth, natural feel of the wood grain.
The wiring uses the Vintage Modified Strat #2 Tone Saver Bleed configuration, so the sound tends not to get muffled when the master volume is turned down.
Additionally, the tone controls consist of one shared control for the neck and middle pickups and a separate control dedicated to the bridge pickup, which improves usability—using them effectively could yield great results.
Since this is a Fender Custom Shop Relic finish, it can be difficult to accurately assess the extent of wear caused by actual playing.
Therefore, this report is based solely on my assessment of its current condition.
Since it was manufactured in 2021, it’s not an exaggeration to say it’s a relatively recent model.
This is because, despite the Relic finish, the guitar exudes a sense of cleanliness, suggesting it has seen relatively little play.
There are no signs of serious wear from playing, nor any evidence of heavy use or rough handling, so it appears to have been treated with care and stored in a hard case when not in use.
There are no irregularities in the soldering of the control assembly, nor any signs that it has been tampered with, so I can’t help but consider this a rare, excellent specimen that has retained its original condition, including the pickups.
