[SN 549572] USED Gibson / L-9S Ripper Bass Natural [11]

[SN 549572] USED Gibson / L-9S Ripper Bass Natural [11]

The maverick of 1970s Gibson: a modern vintage model with a rich and versatile tone.
The Gibson L-9S Ripper Bass is an ambitious long-scale model that debuted in the 1970s. With a design that sets it apart from traditional EB-series models, its 34.5-inch scale and maple-based construction deliver a tight, wide-ranging sound.
This particular instrument bears a "MADE IN USA" stamp and a 6-digit serial number; based on its specifications, it is estimated to be a transitional model from late 1974 to early 1975. Weighing approximately 3.94 kg, it is slightly on the lighter side for a Ripper, offering an excellent balance between playability and tone.
In addition to the two original Super Humbuckers, its custom circuitry—featuring a 4-position selector switch and a mid-range control—delivers a wide range of tones, from thick, punchy sounds to crisp, clear tones with excellent projection. Its versatility makes it a perfect fit not only for rock but also for funk and alternative genres.
This instrument combines the distinctive look of a 1970s Gibson with practical sound versatility. It is recommended for those seeking a vintage bass that offers something a little different from the standard models.
There are signs of wear, including weather checking on the finish, scratches, dents, and some tarnish and rust on the hardware.
The tuning pegs appear to have been replaced (there are signs of replacement).
We have performed the following maintenance: rotary switch wiring repair, fret leveling, nut slot adjustment, and saddle slot adjustment.
There are no issues with the current playability.
