[SN 8298-2] USED Gibson / TB-2 [11]

[SN 8298-2] USED Gibson / TB-2 [11]

A vintage tenor banjo with the dry tone of early Gibson instruments that helped define the traditional jazz groove

The Gibson TB-2 (1926) is a vintage model from Gibson’s early golden age of tenor banjo design evolution. Unlike the standardized specifications of later years, this instrument embodies the individual variations and simple structural beauty characteristic of that transitional period. While featuring a practical, understated style, its robust rim construction and classic Gibson craftsmanship deliver a direct, resonant tone with a solid core.

The sound is exceptionally responsive, characterized by the dry, clear tone typical of the 1920s. The clarity in the mid-to-high frequencies is striking, giving it a presence that cuts through an ensemble, strongly evoking its role as a rhythm instrument during the heyday of jazz and dance bands.

Typical of Gibson instruments from around 1926, the ā€œroughnessā€ and slight irregularities inherent in its still-evolving construction have become part of its character, offering a raw vintage feel distinct from the more refined models of later years. This instrument combines historical value with practicality, strongly preserving the atmosphere of early Gibson banjos.
One of the tailpiece pegs is broken, but this does not affect its playability.
As expected for its age, it shows signs of use, including scratches, dents, peeling paint, and tarnished or rusted parts.
It is in good playing condition.
