<Solid Mahogany Sides and Back>
Solid mahogany is used for the sides and back. This delivers the warm, rich midrange characteristic of mahogany.
<Cowbone Nut and Saddle>
The nut and saddle are made of cowbone (Grade #5 only). Cowbone is extremely hard, enabling more effective sound transmission from the strings to the neck and body. Installing and adjusting a cowbone nut requires a high level of skill, and each guitar is carefully crafted one by one in Japan by skilled guitar craftsmen.
<Proprietary Scalloped Bracing>
Aiming to achieve an ideal, warm tone, we have refined this design through a combination of virtual prototyping using the latest acoustic analysis simulation technology and physical woodworking prototypes. Compared to the scalloped bracing used in the FG/FS#800 series, we have optimized it to match the characteristics of the wood itself and the specific models of the FG and FS series, resulting in further expansion of the low-frequency range.

The top panel features Yamaha’s proprietary Acoustic Resonance Enhancement (A.R.E.) treatment. By precisely controlling temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, this process replicates the natural aging changes that occur in wood over a long period after milling within a short timeframe. This enhances sound transmission and vibration efficiency, promoting the extension of mid-to-low frequencies while increasing the attack of high frequencies and accelerating their decay.The A.R.E. treatment produces a well-balanced, mature, and warm sound with minimal harsh overtones, creating a tone reminiscent of a guitar that has been played for years.
