What is PRS SE?
Carlos Santana, a legendary guitarist who has been using PRS guitars since around 1982, suggested that PRS make a guitar with the high quality of PRS guitars at a low price that students can afford, and the development of this guitar began. The first SE model, the "Santana SE," was released in 2001. The SE series is therefore abbreviated as "Student Edition" and "Santana Edition.

The SE series is not just a low-priced version, but a highly refined guitar that can be used by professionals in the field. The SE Series, now in production in Indonesia, offers even better quality than the Korean-made SE Series that preceded it, and has now led to the emergence of SE Series collectors.

Although there are differences in wood quality, paint, and parts from the USA-made PRS, engineers from the PRS headquarters are frequently dispatched to provide direct guidance, resulting in production lines that follow the same manufacturing process as the USA factory. The wood and parts prepared and developed exclusively for the PRS SE series are optimized with the question of "how to establish the best sound quality while keeping the price low" in mind. As a result, the specifications have changed and improved over the years. This is the "ism" of guitar craftsman Paul Reed-Smith, and this is the essence and appeal of PRS guitars, just like those made in the U.S.A.

PRS SE Paint and Design
The PRS SE has a beautiful carved arch shape, gorgeous grain, well-proportioned cutaway and headstock design, and the beauty of the shapes of each series of guitars, which are presented as a new interpretation of PRS while respecting vintage guitars, is so beautiful and cool that other brands cannot even try to imitate it. The beauty and coolness of each series is so great that no other brand can imitate it.

The PRS SE series guitars are painted with polyester/urethane paint, but the flame and quilt top guitars are colored with a process called "dough coating" to accentuate the grain of the wood before the topcoat is applied. This is a method typical of PRS where a specially formulated colorant is applied directly to the wood with a cloth, etc., to make the grain of the wood stand out even more. Of course, the wood has its own natural shade, so not all of the coloring is uniform, but the fact that the grain of the wood appears more pronounced than in other brands is a characteristic of PRS.
